- At the age of thirty-five, King was the youngest man to receive the Nobel Prize in 1964.
- He wrote the "I Have A Dream" speech from his jail cell in Birmingham, Alabama.
- On the evening of April 4, while standing on the balcony of his hotel room in Memphis, Tennessee, King was assassinated.
